Gmail is one of the most used Email services today. But did you know Google gives you some very cool features that many of us don’t know. These simple hacks can save a lot of your time, help you organise your Inbox and help you in various tasks. So lets look at the 11 easy and simple Gmail hacks which will make your life more easier! One thing to remember here is when you see Settings, it is actually your Gmail settings and not Google Account settings. You need to select this setting:
- Forgot to send attachment? Gmail will warn you!
If you ever write something like ‘Please check the file attached in this email.’ or ‘You can go through the attached file’ or ‘Attached is my resume’ and forget to attach any file, Gmail will warn you! Comes very handy when you’re in a hurry! - Add another Gmail account in existing!
If you have any other Gmail account along with the primary e-mail, you can add it to the primary account.
Then you won’t have to sign out from your current account and enter username and password for other account. You can simply select any account and enter the other account’s username and password. After that you can check your emails on any of your account directly with a single click! - Star important E-mails.
Your important E-mails may get lost under Facebook E-mail notifications or promotional E-mails. So you can click on a ‘Star’ option on the left of any E-mail and star that email. Once you Star any E-mail it will come under the ‘Starred’ option and you can easily go through it any time. You can even customize the star from Settings –> GeneralThen you can star any E-mail by clicking here.
All the starred e-mails will then appear under ‘Starred’
- Save attachments directly in your google drive.
The next time anyone sends you any kind of attachment, instead of downloading it you can easily save it to your drive and then download. Just click on the option next to download option. Once itis saved in your drive, you can get access to it from anywhere, your pc, your friend’s pc, your mobile! - Gmail search!
Searching from a tons of E-mails can be really difficult and tiresome job! When you search for mails from a particular recipient, you get every mails sent received or any conversation with that recipient.
You can use ‘in:‘ keyword to search in a particular group. Eg: ‘in:chats or in:inbox or in:sent or in:drafts‘
To search an E-mail you sent to someone use ‘to:‘ , to search E-mail you received use ‘from:’
If you wanna search for an email you sent to a particular person with an attachment type:
to:[email protected] in:sent has:attachment
If you wanna search for chats with someone who has an attachment type:
from:abcde in:inbox has:attachment
You can use in:inbox,chats,sent,trash,drafts filetype:pdf,doc,ppt from: to search for a particular recepient, to: to find mail sent to a particular email-id etc! Once you get hold of this, you will know many more options! - To-do list of gmail
You can select the to-do feature from above the inbox area where you can find ‘Gmail’. Click on Gmail you will see ‘Contacts’ and ‘Tasks’. You can create a to-do list with the help of Gmail that reminds you of pending tasks. You can use it to keep track of your pending tasks and once done, you can check it there only! - Keyboard Shortcuts.
You can use various keyboard shortcuts to use Gmail more efficiently and fast. You need to first enable it from Settings –> labs

- Undo Sent
Have you ever sent a mail to wrong person Or wrote something you shouldn’t have written at first place? You can enable this feature from google labs which is located in Settings of you account.
Go to settings –> labs and navigate down you’ll find Undo sent. Select it. Enable it and click on Save Changes.
The next time you’ll see an E-mail you will see an undo option at the top visible for few seconds. You can click on it and undo the sent E-mail. - Back up messages
Backup all the E-mails to some other E-mail address. Create a new id for backup messages. Navigate to Settings –> Forwarding and POP/IMAP. In Forwarding enter the new id you created. - Inbox in html view
