How to Create Virtual Machine using VMware

We already know what is Virtualization? So now that you know what Virtualization is and its various advantages,
let’s go a step ahead and build your own machine in VMware. That means, we are going to create a new Operating System inside our base machine.
You can download VMware and activate the trial period for time being. Lets see how to create Virtual machine using VMware.

  1. Open VMware. Click on Create New Machine.

  2. Select Typical. Custom is only for Advance users.

  3. If you have a CD/DVD don’t change anything.
    If you have an ISO file, give the path of the file, after clicking on ‘Browse’ .

  4. Verify the path. Check if you have the correct Image file.

  5. Easy Install Step of VMware.
    Easy Install asks you your name, username, and password, and gives this to normal and root user (If you’re installing a Linux Operating System).

  6. Name the Virtual Machine.
    You can name it anything, but preferable name it According to the OS and its version.
    If you’re C drive is full or you’re running out of space on C Drive, Please change the location. Because once you start working on that virtual machine, its size will increase.

  7. Enter the Disk space.
    20GB is fine. If you’re installing a Linux Operating System just for practice, 10GB is sufficient.
    Select ‘Store Virtual Disk as a single file’. The default option here is Multiple files, but Single files is easy to carry and use. You can however keep the default option, thatwon’t be a problem.

  8. Summary.
    This step shows a brief summary of the configuration of your new operating system.
    You can edit this by choosing ‘Customize Hardware’. The Important thing here is, Changing the Network connection.
    If you need to communicate one Virtual machine with other, or with the base machine, keeping the default setting of NAT will restrict you to do that.
    Change it to bridged connection.
    Check the ISO image path.

  9. Click on ‘Finish’. Your new Operating System will start immediately.

Just install the Operating System, and its ready to use !
