How to Install Linux Mint


Linux Mint just like Ubuntu, is very powerful and easy to use. Based on Debian, it is the most preferred Operating System in Linux after Ubuntu. Its design is very elegant and attractive, plus its interface makes everything simple.

  1. Boot from CD

  2. Select language for installation.

  4. Select the installation type.You can select ‘Erase disk and install Linux Mint’. This process will be very straightforward. A warning before formatting your hard disk, and then the installation. But we will take the harder way, and select ‘Something else.

  5. Give SWAP memory and ‘/’
    Under the ‘Device’ row you would find the name of your hard disk. Here it is ‘/dev/sda’. If you can’t find any free space below it, click on ‘create partition table’ and create a new partition. Now you can see the free space.Select ‘free space’ and click on ‘add’.
    Create ‘Swap’ memory.
    Then select ‘free space’ and click on ‘add’.
    Add mount point as ‘/’ and File system as ‘ext4’

  6. Select your place.
