Ulteo Virtual Desktop (ovd) is a tool, used to provide a group of users with same/different operating systems with the same functions instantly. What do you do when you have to give laptops to 500 students or employees? You’ll format and install an Operating system in each of the Laptop, and then install applications. At the best you’ll create a machine with all applications, make its clone and install that clone everywhere. Still it would take lot of time to do all this.
Ulteo can help you here. In Ulteo Virtual Desktop, you create a server, and then add users and manage their applications, that is, which group of users will use which applications. Ulteo has all the basic and advanced applications. once you’re done with that, you’ll then give all your students/employees, the IP of server, and once they enter their user credentials, they will get a Virtual Desktop right infront of them. INSTANTLY, plus they can only access those applications which the server has given them.
If for a group of students, say Group A, the admin has approved JAVA and Mozilla Firefox, and for other group, say Group B the admin has approved C++ and Open Office, then when an user from Group A logs in, he will get the JAVA and Firefox on his desktop, Pre-installed. And he can only use those two softwares. Similarly, if user from Group B logs in he will get C++ and Open Office.
Ulteo saves hours of hard work and its UI for Administrators ins quite straight forward and simple.
