How to use Citrix Xen


How to configure your Xen server.

Now that you have installed XenServer hypervisor, you have to configure it to work properly.
Configuring is easy.
We will first see how to manage network in XenServer.
What if you want to change the IP address?

  1. Go to network and management interface.

    Select Network and Management Interface.

  2. On the right side you’ll see your current network details.
    To change IP Click on ‘Configure Management Interface.
    To Check DNS servers select Second Option.
    To check NTP select 3rd Option.
    To Test the network or do ping operation, select ‘Test Network’
    To view Network Interface cards, select Display NICs

  3. XenServer will ask you for Password.
    Remember you entered only 1 password in the installation process.
    Enter that password here.

  4. Select your NIC card. 
    If you’re using DHCP, you can renew your lease time by selecting ‘Renew DHCP Lease On Current Interface’.

  5. If you selected your NIC Card, it will ask you
    If you want to let DHCP server give you a IP or
    Enter IP manually (Static IP)
    You can also edit hostname here, in the second option.

Now once you’ve configured your network, time to add Server!

  1. When the installer is downloaded, run it.
    Install it simply by doing Next.

    Install XenServer Software.

  2. This is the Start screen of XenServer.
    Click on Add server

  3. Enter the IP, username and password.

  4. Wait for connection to be established.

  5. Once connected you’ll see this screen.
    Save the password, so that you don’t have to manually enter the IP and password each time you open XenServer.

  6. Click on Add VM to add a new Virtual Machine in this Hypervisor.
